IDEA Center’s Director of Research, Jordana Maisel, participates on Access and Mobility for All Summit panel

On Tuesday, October 29, 2019, the U.S. Department of Transportation hosted the “Access and Mobility for All Summit.” The summit brought together experts from academia, industry, and government to discuss improving access and mobility for people with disabilities, older adults and low-income individuals. The goal of the Summit was to prioritize Federal and non-Federal initiatives to help increase access to transit and ridesharing.

Dr. Maisel participated in the Inclusive Design: Vehicle Technologies that Increase Access panel with Anne Marie Lewis, Director of Safety and Technology Policy, Alliance of Automobile Manufacturers;  Miriam Manary, Biosciences Lead Engineer, University of Michigan, Transportation Research Institute and  Maria Town, President and CEO, American Association of People with Disabilities. The panel was moderated by James Owens, Acting Administrator, National Highway Traffic Safety Administration

Keynotes speakers included: Secretary of Transportation, Elaine L. Chao; Secretary of Housing and Urban Development, Benjamin S. Carson, Sr., M.D.; and, Congresswoman Cathy McMorris Rodgers (WA-5).
