Jimin Choi

Jimin Choi, Ph.D.

Director of Research

Jimin is the quintessential all-rounder—a researcher, analyst, designer, and writer all rolled into one. With a unique ability to connect with people from diverse perspectives, she seamlessly blends qualitative and quantitative research to understand and enhance the human experience. Her passion lies in advancing mobility, physical health, and psychological well-being among underrepresented populations, particularly individuals with disabilities. Through her work, she strives to create inclusive environments and improve transportation accessibility. Jimin’s degrees in architecture and community planning from South Korea led her journey to the US. Her PhD in Urban and Regional Planning from the University at Buffalo was a natural evolution of her growing dedication to equity and inclusion. Over the years, she has applied her expertise to research areas such as public transportation, street infrastructure, and product usability at the IDEA Center. Her ability to design and conduct robust studies, from surveys to interviews, is matched by her skills in analyzing complex datasets and crafting compelling narratives. When she’s not researching or writing, Jimin loves traveling and embracing new experiences. Lately, her most cherished journey is the one at home, where she is happily immersed in raising her little one.
