Jimin Choi, Ph.D.
Researcher and Data Analyst
Jimin is the quintessential all-rounder—a researcher, analyst, designer, and writer all rolled into one. With a unique ability to connect with people from diverse perspectives, she seamlessly blends qualitative and quantitative research to understand and enhance the human experience. Her passion lies in advancing mobility, physical health, and psychological well-being among underrepresented populations, particularly individuals with disabilities. Through her work, she strives to create inclusive environments and improve transportation accessibility.
Jimin’s degrees in architecture and community planning from South Korea led her journey to the US. Her PhD in Urban and Regional Planning from the University at Buffalo was a natural evolution of her growing dedication to equity and inclusion. Over the years, she has applied her expertise to research areas such as public transportation, street infrastructure, and product usability at the IDEA Center. Her ability to design and conduct robust studies, from surveys to interviews, is matched by her skills in analyzing complex datasets and crafting compelling narratives.
When she’s not researching or writing, Jimin loves exploring the neighborhood with her husband. However, her current adventure is a more personal one: becoming a mom in early 2025, a role she is thrilled to embrace with her characteristic energy and enthusiasm.
