Senior Director of Project ACTION & Transportation Initiatives

Bio

Mary Leary is a Senior Director at the Easter Seals Office of Public Affairs. Leary leads Easter Seals Project ACTION, the National Center on Senior Transportation and other transportation and mobility initiatives. Since January 2004, Leary held a number of roles at the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services, Administration on Aging, including those of Special Assistant for the Assistant Secretary for Aging, managing and developing program evaluation initiatives, and furthering transportation and mobility needs of human services populations both within the department and across federal agencies with the United We Ride initiative. She has been an outspoken advocate and public speaker in the field of human services transportation and has served on a number of advisory committees.

Leary has a master’s certificate in gerontology from George Mason University’s College of Health and Human Services and she is a doctoral candidate at George Mason University’s School of Public Policy. Leary has been an adjunct professor at George Mason University’s Department of Public and International Affairs and holds a master’s degree in administrative science from Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore, Md., and a bachelor’s degree in English and sociology from James Madison University, Harrisonburg, Va.
